We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. – Sir Winston Churchill, British politician (1874-1965)
In 1984 there was a famine in Ethiopia that came to the attention of the world through the BBC news reports of Michael Buerk. Millions were affected by this, but Bob Geldof and Midge Ure took action by creating “Band Aid” and releasing a song, and then bringing the world together for “Live Aid“, raising millions for charity. This was the power of the inspired individual making a difference on a global scale.
At Eltham College, Nabil’s class played a 24 hour football match for charity, and although they had a lot of fun, they also did their little bit in helping those less fortunate than us.
And so, inspired by Bob Geldof, friend Commander Ryan, who has been so selfless in his time and efforts, schoolmate Major Phil Packer who has inspired thousands and raised millions, and last but not least, the students at St. Christopher’s Bahrain, Nabil has been trying to raise money for charity through his expeditions, and more recently through encouraging students to have or create their own “Live Aid” or climbing Mount Everest experiences.
These are the charities that he has raised money for or supported in the past…and hopefully many more will be added in the future!

Laptops4workers
There are hundreds of workers living here in Doha who have left their children, parents, husbands and wives behind so that they can send them money each month to survive. Imagine what a difference it would make in their lives if they could connect to home now and then. How excited their children would be to see their daddy’s or mummy’s face on a screen, to hear their voice or to be able to write to them often.
Workers spend their time off work with nothing much to do. They would love to be able to watch a movie on a laptop or play games in the evenings. You could change their lives.
Thereby we the students of Grades 8-11 along with Mr.Steve have taken the initiative to try and help these workers to keep in touch with today's technology...

Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq. The message of the charity is simple... We are strictly non political and non critical; we simply want to help. We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. These are ordinary people doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded, but together we can help them get better.
